Blinding sunshine coming through large glass surfaces can make a car journey unpleasant, and it can also bother our children. In such cases we often use ad hoc solutions by using different mobile sunshades, but they cause more harm than good. Besides making the car unaesthetic, we filter visible light only; this means that our pupils get dilated and UV radiation can cause more harm. With the help of Skyfol window films, visible light can be filtered to a much larger extent, beside protecting yourself from infrared and UV radiation, and making the car more beautiful.
Another important factor is the protection of valuable items. With delivery vans it’s crucial to provide insight protection; with your car as well, if you leave your bag inside, it’s good if the thief doesn’t immediately see what reason they have to break into the car. Of course it does not mean you can be careless, but if you accidentally leave something on the back seat, there’s a good chance the thief will move on to a car where he can see the interior.
It is a frequent question how dark the interior of the car will become after tinting – when someone hears of visible light transmission of 5%, they immediately think of total darkness. It’s important to know that our eyes are able to compensate a darkening of 50% immediately, which makes it’s practically unnoticeable. Factory darkened glasses transmit approximately 20% visible light – it might be sufficient for adults, but children are still bothered by sunshine. For young kids, we definitely recommend 5% visible light transmission on rear windows, which provides perfect visibility for them, but at the same time, visible light filtering will in all cases by sufficient.
For the rear windshield, we normally recommend a lighter film similar to factory darkening, that is 15-20% visible light transmission. Visibility will remain perfect, while the colour difference between the two films will not be noticeable.
